Likewise thrust back to 1984 is the Terminator (Schwarzenegger), a grim, well-armed, virtually indestructable cyborg who has been programmed to eliminate Sarah Connor. After killing two "Sarah Connors" who turn out to be the wrong women, he finally aims his gunsights at the genuine article. This is the film in which Schwarzenegger declared "I'll be back"--and back he was, in "kinder and gentler" form, in the even more successful Terminator 2: Judgment Day (1991). TERMINATOR 2: JUDGMENT DAY Sequel to 1984's blockbuster hit, T2 offers a newer, gentler Terminator. Reprogrammed by the human resistance in the year 2029, the original Terminator comes back to save John Connor, the future leader of the humans, from the morphing T-1000. Upon his arrival the naked Terminator appropriates some snappy biker gear, a Harley and a wide assortment of guns, and promptly sets out to protect the boy. In complete contrast, the T-1000 disguises himself as a clean-cut LAPD officer and grimly proceeds on his mission.
